Benjamin Joffe

Asia’s internet expert Benjamin Joffe made an appearance at Yetizen, a gaming company in San Francisco, to share his intimate knowledge of the Asian gaming industry. From Yetizen’s weblog.

Joffe covered the different ways technology is structured and distributed as well as the popularity of virtual goods, MMOS, Causal games and social networks.

Benjamin also debunked several common stereotypes: most people in America think that Facebook is the end-all-be-all of online social gaming, but they don’t realize that several companies in China, Korea and Japan completely overshadow the successes Facebook has had a gaming platform (TenCent and RenRen). Benjamin outlined how these companies have risen to the top of the Asian social gaming industry by creating platforms with multi-purpose functionality. He then went on to discuss proven strategies which American companies have used to localize their titles overseas. We all left with exciting new ideas of how to successfully break into the thriving social games market in Asia.

Benjamin Joffe is a speaker at the China Speakers Bureau. Do you need him at your meeting or conference? Do get in touch.
